The museum hosts over 2900 area students, grades 2-5, for full-day education programs each school year. Topics covered by the programs are Pioneers of Sheboygan County, Historic Trades and Occupations, Native American History, and the Civil War and Sheboygan County. Volunteers are needed to lead small-group hands-on activities or gallery sessions with the students. Times of commitment are flexible.
An interest in working with children in a small-group setting, as well as willingness to learn and be flexible, are critical. Special interest in history is a bonus. Training will involve a period for the volunteer to observe, look over activity summaries, and ask questions of staff and other volunteers.
