Jeannie Blumer has been an ever present face at Green Cares Food Pantry since they opened in 2009. In the eight years that Green Cares Food Pantry has been open, she has given over 12,000 hours of her time to serve its patrons and to work with the community to raise awareness for Green Cares' mission. Absolutely outstanding!
In addition to directly serving the pantry's patrons, Jeannie has gone above and beyond to further help them. She assists in keeping the pantry funded and stocked with food by helping coordinate donations from local grocery stores, organizing food drives with schools and other organizations in Green county, and ordering food from Second Harvest.
Outside of pantry hours, Jeannie not only provides patrons with information on other programs such as housing and energy assistance, she also helps them with the process of becoming enrolled in the programs.
"Jeannie's worked at Green County Human Services before she retired and I know this background helps her to provide such great services to the pantry and its patrons," said Katie Letcher, former intern and ongoing volunteer at Green Cares Food Pantry. "Since the day we met, I have admired the hard work, dedication, and empathy that Jeannie puts in. She constantly goes above and beyond!"
Green Cares Food Pantry is a 501(c3) organization run strictly by volunteers, including manning the pantry on evenings, weekends, and urgent situations.
