With over 1,100 hours of service, Valerie Knasinski is the jack-of-all-trades at Agrace Volunteer Services. She has served in roles from administrative, hospitality, infection prevention/control, quality assurance, donor, vigil volunteer, outreach advocate, mentor, ambassador, special events volunteer, and data entry assistant. Throughout all of her roles she has continued to evolve and grow. Volunteer Wisconsin and Agrace are amazed by Valerie's dedication and there is little Valerie will not commit to once she sees how her work impacts outcomes for patients and families.
Before she started giving so much of her time to Agrace, Valerie was a nurse for over 34 years. Since committing her time, she has impacted Agrace staff, volunteers, and patients through her application of nursing skills, through her attendance at outreach events to raise awareness of Agrace's services, through the volunteer recruitment and onboarding process, and especially through her role as a vigil volunteer by providing a comforting presence to those who are actively dying. Even if patients never meet Valerie, she helps to improve their quality of life and to provide comfort by sewing, knitting, and donating clothing items and comfort shawls.
"Valerie's volunteer assignments have been wide, varied, and always impactful to the high quality service we are able to provide patients and their families. There are few areas of operation in our organization that have not been touched in some way by her work and efforts," said Laura Komjathy, the Volunteer Coordination at Agrace HospiceCare. "We are grateful to have her serve with us! Our branch would not be able to meet needs without a dedicated volunteer such as Valerie stepping up when she is needed. She should be recognized and honored for the work that she does, and the difference she has made in the lives of so many, in so many capacities."
