Sarah began volunteering at the Wausau River District this past summer as their summer community arts intern and in her first four months, put in over 600 hours! That's amazing dedication, Sarah! Beyond her dedication and hard work, Sarah was nominated for her leadership skills and her willingness to help with any project.
"We believe that Sarah should be recognized as a Volunteer Rock Star for her work as our summer community arts intern at the Wausau River District because of her strong work ethic, persistence, positive attitude and dedication to the Wausau community," said her nominator Blake Opal-Wahoske.
As the community arts intern, Sarah planned and executed 3 large community arts projects including the Wausau Watercolors project, painting a large mural in a vacant storefront, and painting a cross walk mural with community members. On top of planning, organizing and executing all three projects she helped jump start our painted pianos of Wausau project and wrote for a community arts grant that was later received.
"It's because of people like Sarah that Wausau is such a wonderful place to live, work and play," added Blake.
